Google Movie Search

Google started to bring in new features rapidly, another new search option is the movie: and then movie title or actor.

For instance you try searching for the move the matrix you'll find lots of reviews now. Ratings and more search options within the results or the frequently mentioned terms.

One feature I like a lot is that you will be able to find this movie at theaters near you.

Google Catalog Search

Google Catalog Search applies Google's search technology to thousands of scanned mail-order catalogs, from industrial adhesives to designer clothing and gourmet food.

Whether you publish business or consumer catalogs, Google Catalog Search extends the reach of your marketing efforts to millions of new customers.

Inclusion in Google Catalog Search is currently free for publishers. There is no obligation and nothing you need to do other than provide Google with copies of your catalogs. You just simply send them your catalog and it will be included in the catalog search.

I think it's a great feature, especially for business 2 business. You can 'scan' quickly through various suppliers and order a catalog of your needs.

Seperat IE in new Windows Longhorn

Reversing a longstanding Microsoft policy, Bill Gates said Tuesday that the company will ship an update to its browser separately from the next major version of Windows.

A beta, or test, version of Internet Explorer 7 will debut this summer, Microsoft's chairman and chief software architect said in a keynote address at the RSA Conference 2005 here. The company had said that it would not ship a new IE version before the next major update to Windows, code-named Longhorn, arrives next year.

Update:

Microsoft said the new version will be far less vulnerable to the bugs that make its current browser a favourite of tech-savvy criminals.

Eyetrack movement

Is your homepage layout effective? What effect do blurbs on the homepage have compared to headlines? Are ads placed where they will be seen by the audience?

Some study shows that only 4-5 people out of a thousand click a banner ad. So to get the visitors attention is critical when designing a website.

Most visitors will leave your page within 30 seconds of visiting, so to get them to read articles or even click on your banners is recently small.

Good content is one thing and design a website that looks good and is readable is another thing. The article written at poynterextra.org is great, they observed 46 people for one hour and looked at their behaviour.

Lots of powerfull tips about human behaviour visiting websites.

What's my rank?

How to check your SERP (search engine results page) or how i call it, search engine return position. If you are monitoring your keywords serps you don't want to search the engine through all pages over and over again. A great tool by googlerankings shows you exactly on what position your keyword is!
Even more exciting is the Ultimate SEO Tool, also on googlerankings, here you can analyse a certain page and find it's keyword positions.

For Yahoo there's a site to check your serps at yahoosearchrankings.com also worth looking at.

Sevenseek Directory

With one of my sites i joined the sevenseek directory, it's a directory set up by the guys from v7n.com. A standard script and transformed to the directory as shown. The look and feel comes from exactseek but with a higer pagerank and a cleaner design.

I joined the "web directory" section and it has a pagerank of 6/10. So a life time link on a pr6 page for $40 is a done deal if it tranfers pr.
The page i'm on is not in google's cache and doesn't show up at the backlinks, so i doubt if it's worth the money.

The discussion about paid directories has gone mad around several forums, is it still worth submitting to the directories? I think there's still future for web directories if there's more content to the topics. Most of the directories so only links, anchor and description.

I get some hits a day from sevenseek, so it's still a good resource for me.

Update: 15 februari 2004, the category i'm in is cached by google! Looks promising.

Google Maps

A great new feature from the mighty google, google maps enables you to search and find a location in the us.
A zoom function to streetlevel detail, reloading of maps works very quick. There's also the posibility to create a route between two directions.

99 Great SEO Tools

I found this site some time ago, a website with 99 best seo (free) tools! It publish links to seo internet tools for optimizing your websites and move your search engine position higher. You can also suggest your own best tool.
A great resource!

What does this term mean?

I found this great resource site while surfing the web.
At marketingterms you'll find an clear explaination of all marketing terms involving the internet. It's well setup so you'll the meaning of the marketing term you are looking for quickly.

Alexa Toolbar

The alexa custom toolbar is of great usage. It comes standard with related links of the website you're visiting, a direct link to the amazon shop and you'll be able to see the history of a webpage.
There is a search option in the toolbar that uses google as search engine. You'll be also able to see the alexa rank, a traffic estimator for that site. There's also additional information about the websites. Download the toolbar here.

Free content to your pages

If you are looking for free content to your HTML pages i can recommend ezinearticles of goarticles. These sites are great resources for finding content.
For seo (search engine optimalisation) you'll to add content to your pages. The spideres will love your new free content. Add frequently new content to your site and it will go up in the search engines.

Coop Ad Network

I recently started out using the Coop Ad Network, the main idea is that you can make a pool of advertisements with keywords you want to target. (Ads)
With a small amount of weight in the network it will only work in a niche market. With 'big' keywords you'll need to have lots of weight. The keywords are displayed across the network and will be spidered by the search-eninges.
The weight is calculated to the amount of pages and the pagerank. After a couple of weeks you'll see some major changes with some keywords. It works great, especially with keywords you're stuck with low-serp. I can recommend using the coop.
